Scheffer Group Restaurants Reopen, Offering Safe, Potable Water and Exceptional Hospitality

We are excited to announce that all Scheffer Group restaurants, including both Vinnie’s Neighborhood Italian locations, Gan Shan West, and Jettie Rae’s Oyster House, are now open and operating with clean, safe, and health department-certified potable water. Our hearts are full of gratitude as we welcome our beloved community back into our dining rooms. Over the past few days, it’s been a joy to see so many familiar, smiling faces, and we’re honored to provide a space for comfort, healing, and nourishment in these challenging times.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, we’ve witnessed firsthand the resilience and strength of Asheville. Partnering with incredible organizations like World Central Kitchen, we’ve been able to provide thousands of meals to those in need, and we will continue this mission by serving 150 meals daily in partnership with Now Serving and Food Connection.

Eric Scheffer, founder of The Scheffer Group, feels honored to be in service of our community.  "I am so happy to invite you back into our restaurants. I am honored to be able to once again provide employment for the Scheffer Group family. During these times, comfort and gathering are as important to our community as infrastructure. We hope to provide you spaces where you can heal, nourish yourselves, and enjoy the hospitality that our city is famous for."

For our valued guests, we want to assure you that your health and safety remain our top priority. Some of you may have noticed the large water tanks outside our restaurants. These tanks, provided by Topwater Energy Solutions, are filled with potable water from health department-approved sources, and Moody Plumbing has installed new pumps to feed this water directly into our buildings. While the water is already 100% safe for use, we’ve also installed UV filtration systems for an extra layer of protection. To conserve water for essential restaurant operations, we are serving bottled water to our guests.

The sense of community in Asheville is unlike any other, and we are so grateful to be a part of it. We are here for you, ready to welcome you back with open arms and full hearts.
